In Defense of Measure T: Wildfire Prevention and Resilience

10/24/26 • General

There has been some recent community discussion about whether Measure T funds should be used for purposes beyond wildfire prevention and fuels reduction. I want to be clear about my position.

Measure T was approved by 82% of voters to support wildfire prevention, fuels reduction, and community resilience. I believe its funds should remain entirely dedicated to those purposes, and I support renewing Measure T before its sunset, with its original intent preserved and not one dollar diverted to any other purpose.

Truckee Fire District must also remain financially strong. Long-term planning and stable funding sources are essential to supporting our firefighter-paramedics and maintaining high-quality emergency services. Future staffing needs should be addressed through those mechanisms, not by redirecting Measure T funds.

Over the past year and a half I have attended board meetings, reviewed agendas and board packets, and met with firefighters and fire leaders inside and outside our district to better understand the issues and listen to those who serve our community.

My commitment to Truckee extends beyond fire issues. I volunteered in our schools, supported our aquatics and arts centers and trails, and served six years on the Truckee Little League Board, including three as president. I also helped establish our neighborhood Firewise Community and have assisted neighbors with fire preparedness.

I am running because I care deeply about Truckee and want to help ensure our Fire District remains financially responsible, prepared for the future, and focused on protecting the community. I have taken the time to understand the challenges ahead, and I am ready to serve.

On November 3, 2026, vote for Roger Rintala for Truckee Fire Protection District 2026
